What is PTSD?

PTSD, or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, is a complex disorder involving an individual’s response to a traumatic or stressful set of events. It can range from emotional numbing and depression to re-living past traumas and feeling like your “fight-or-flight” reaction has gone haywire.

Around 70% of adults in the US are estimated to experience a traumatic event each year, with about 20% of those developing PTSD. Women are twice as likely to be affected by PTSD as men.
